Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to be announced as Manchester United’s first signing of the Jose Mourinho era in the next 48 hours, according to reports.

The 34-year-old played his last game for Paris Saint-Germain last weekend and is available on a free transfer.

The volatile Swede has had run-ins with numerous former managers in the past but he’s gone on record to express his admiration for Mourinho – who he played under at Inter Milan.

Mourinho, 52, is set to replace Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford after the Dutchman was sacked last night and he already has a number of transfer targets.

Ibrahimovic was unwilling to join the Red Devils while Van Gaal was in charge but he wants to play in the Premier League before he retires and Mourinho wants him to lead United’s attack.

And, according to the Mirror, the club could announce the Swede’s arrival in the next 48 hours after he agreed a one-year deal to move to Old Trafford.
